Attributes of God (15)

A walk through A.W. Pink's Attributes of God. Feel free to read along and comment.

Ch. 15: The Love of God-'

God is love. What does that mean? Not just that God “loves.” but that God is love. It's one of His attributes. *blink* It's part of God's nature. In this chapter, Pink makes some excellent observations regarding God's love. “It's commonly regarded as a species of amiable weakness, a sort of good-natured indulgence; it is reduced to a mere sickly sentiment, patterned after human emotion.” How true of today! Would that not be the case!

God's love is unconditional. It doesn't require things from us. God's love is grounded in His sovereign will. We love Him, because He first loved us.

God's love is eternal. God loved before the foundation of the world. It's an unchanging love because God Himself is unchanging.

God's love is sovereign. It is a love that is powerful. God's love transforms and changes. It's bound by nothing because God is bound by nothing. God's love wins. QED

God's love is infinite. It lasts forever. It extends forever. It goes higher, deeper, longer, wider, broader than anything else. Alpha Omega, loving us!

God's love is immutable. Never changes. No shadow of turning. Loving until the end.

God's love is holy. It's a pure love, regulated by principle. It's a love that's willing to discipline His sons so that they may bear fruit that lasts.

God's love is gracious. There's our treasure. Nothing can separate us from God's love. Nothing can prevent God's love from accomplishing what it sets out to do. Even when it seems like we walk through the valley of death, God is here and His love is eternal.
